Learn swimming & diving
8. Important basic skills and
moving forward through the water naturally
A swimming teacher needs to work on the basics very thoroughly before
even starting with the actual swimming movement. Feeling comfortable in
the water and mastering basic skills are very important for taking the next
steps. These include, for example, gliding, floating, breathing, diving,
moving forward through the water naturally and feeling comfortable on
one's back in the water.
At first, the children should be allowed to move through the water in a
natural way, before being taught the proper technique for the breaststroke.
To start with, the doggy paddle, backstroke, and initial crawling strokes
allow them to move through the water before being able to actually swim.
Next step: Learn to swim - 9.1. Learning to swim with the eyes
and the right arm movement
