13.1. Orientation under water is vitally important
Anyone who wants to be safe in the water should get used to diving with
their eyes open and take enough time to practice this. A swimming teacher
uses creative underwater games and invests many hours in training the
ability to see under water.
Games in which 2 people look at one another under water, give signs,
guess numbers or colours are suitable for doing this. Children like looking
for things in water, doing a roll under water and diving through obstacles.
These exercises are an important basis for safety later on. After
accidentally falling into water, being able to orient oneself under water is
vitally important.
